Shaquille O'Neall - New Proffesion
In a league where most stars are basketball obsessives, Shaquille O'Neal(notes) has always stood out as
having a wider range of interests. Between his loves of acting, rapping, law enforcement, comedy and reality television, Shaq has dabbled in more fields than most famous people have dreamed of.
Next Monday, he'll add another entertainment accomplishment to the list: conductor of the Boston Pops. From the Associated Press:
Shaquille O'Neal will climb the podium, put on his tailcoat and white tie and lead the orchestra in Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" during a concert Monday night at Symphony Hall.
The Boston Celtics' 7-foot-1 center will participate in a program otherwise conducted by Keith Lockhart focusing on Christmas and holiday-season music.
We should probably use the term "conduct" loosely here -- I don't know much about "Sleigh Ride," but I would guess that the Boston Pops can play it without the assistance of a novice conductor. My prediction is that he'll wave the baton around with mock seriousness before biting it. If that won't bring the laffs, I don't know what will.
But while I feel the need to mock Shaq, it's also worth noting that his appearance with the orchestra will likely bring more attention to an art form typically neglected by anyone who hasn't been retired for a decade. He's doing important work, even if it's a little goofy. As usual with Shaq, his need for attention is tied to a willingness to help others.

110 metres hurdles - World Champion
The 110 metres hurdles is a hurdling track and field event for by men which features in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympic Games. The female counterpart is the 100 metre hurdles. As part of a racing event, ten hurdles of 1.067 metres (3.5 ft or 42 inches) in height are placed evenly spaced along a straight course of 110 metres. They are positioned so that they will fall over if bumped into by the runner. Fallen hurdles do not carry a fixed time penalty for the runners, yet they have a significant pull-over weight which slows down the run. Like the 100 metres sprint, the 110 metre hurdles begins in the starting blocks.

BMX racing - Catch your Bike
BMX racing is a type of off-road bicycle racing. The format of BMX was derived from motocross racing. BMX bicycle races are sprint races on purpose-built off-road single-lap race tracks. The track usually consists of a starting gate for up to eight racers, a groomed, serpentine, dirt race course made of various jumps and rollers and a finish line. The course is usually flat, about 15-foot (4.6 m) wide and has large banked corners that help the riders maintain speed. The sport of BMX racing is facilitated by a number of regional and international sanctioning bodies. They provide rules for governing the conduct of the races, specify age group and skill-level classifications among the racers, and maintain some kind of points-accumulation system over the racing season. The sport is very family oriented and largely participant-driven, with riders ranging in age from 3 to 60, and over. Professional ranks exist for both men and women, where the age ranges from 15 to 40 years old.

Gate 4 fans in Zagreb (Dinamo vs PAOK)
Around a dozen supporters of the Greek soccer club PAOK were injured in an attack by local hooligans on the bus driving them to a hotel in the Croatian capital, police said on Tuesday.
"According to our first reports, around a dozen Greek supporters were injured in the attack on their bus. Four of them were taken for treatment in Zagreb hospitals," a Zagreb police spokeswoman said.
She also said that several dozen attackers first threw stones on the bus, breaking the windows, and then threw several torches inside.
"Fortunately, they were extinguished quickly," she said.
The bus was carrying VIP guests from Greece for the game between Dinamo Zagreb and PAOK on Wednesday in their last Europa League group stage match.
Dinamo Zagreb supporters have a history of causing crowd troubles, especially at away games in Europe. The club has been heavily fined by UEFA several times in recent years.

Oscar Milton - Scores Off Back Of Goalies Mask
Oscar Milton, a 17-year-old center for Almtuna J20 in Sweden, didn't settle for imitation and went for the innovation in scoring an amazing goal: Lifting the puck onto his blade and tossing it off the back of the goaltender's mask in a game against Nacka of Stockholm.
The slow-mo replay of this goal, really captures what makes it an instant classic; well, that and the mini pile-on by his teammates after the tally. No wonder it was a goal of the year.

Goal by Goalkeeper - Airton
The Brazilian Under-17 semi-final was lit up by a freak goal scoring by Juventude keeper Airton after 38 minutes.
After collecting the ball in his box, Ayrton undertook a standard up-and-under to restart the play. Accordingly the 16-year-old shotstopper launched a punt upfield without any great ambitions of creating a goalscoring opportunity from his long booted kick.
That was until Caxias keeper Bernardo had a brainfreeze following a miscommunication with his own centre-half. Instead of ordering his defender to deal with the high ball, no instructions were passed between the keeper and his so-called protector. That meant that when the defender opted to chicken out of heading the ball clear, keeper Bernardo was caught in no-mans-land with respect to the bounce.

Worst Fotball Miss Ever - Fahad Khalfan
In the middle of the Asian Games' quarterfinal match between Qatar and Uzbekistan in China, Qatar's 18-year-old striker Fahad Khalfan had an opportunity to score an easy goal. He raced to the ball by the goal and the opposing goalkeeper overran it. With an empty net, Khalfan kicked the ball off the far post and missed. The ball bounced back to the penalty spot and kicked out of bounds. Quatar lost the match 1-0.

Russian Extreme Sport on 900ft Up
A terrifying video of a death-defying group of teenagers walking out on a beam 900ft up is a hit online.
The one-minute clip shows one girl carefully edging out on an iron girder above a distant forest below.
But she is soon trumped by a blond-haired boy who smiles at the camera before pulling off an even more spine-tingling stunt.
He slides out on to the bar before standing bolt upright at the end with his hands on his hips admiring the view.
One fan wrote: "I got scared just looking at the video. They got balls."
But another asked: "Why in the hell would you ever want to do something so stupid and pointless?"

Football Players vs Fans - Caught on Tape
Raw, unaired footage of the violence caught on camera by a local cable TV station shows St. Leonard players climb into the stands behind their bench and battle with Hurricane fans in a vicious and protracted melee in the dying seconds of Saturday night’s Ontario Football Conference semifinal playoff game.
At one point, a player in a Cougars jersey smashes a black plastic milk crate down onto the head of a fan. Moments later, groups of players swarm other spectators. Fans fight back and gang up on one player, who gets away by pulling out of his football jersey.
In one struggling, swinging knot, a Cougars player delivers a devastating blow that knocks a fan out cold. Seconds later, the cameras catch a Cougar raise his cleated foot and stomp down full force on a downed fan.

Bolivian president knees football opponent in groin
Bolivian president, Evo Morales, knees La Paz town hall player, Daniel Cartagena, in the groin during a football match.
A knee to the groin may be more Vinnie Jones than Machiavelli, but it was no less effective for Evo Morales in asserting his presidential authority.
With one deft movement, Bolivia's combative leader felled an opponent in a football match against a team of political rivals. The receiving player crumpled in agony holding, as local media put it, his "testicular zone".
The incident, during a match on Sunday to inaugurate a renovated stadium in the capital La Paz, was captured on video and last night aired on local TV stations.

Parkour - Exciting Sport
Parkour (sometimes abbreviated to PK), or l'art du déplacement (English: the art of movement) is the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment. It is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible. Skills such as jumping and climbing, or the more specific parkour moves are employed. The goal of a practitioner of parkour, called a traceur if male, or traceuse if female, is to get from one place to another using only the human body and the objects in the environment. The obstacles can be anything in one's environment, but parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of the many suitable public structures available such as buildings and rails.
