Sao Paulo's Geovane Scores After 5 Seconds
Sao Paulo's Geovane Scores After 5 Seconds At The Copa Sao Paulo
The Copa Sao Paulo, a Brazilian youth tournament, continues to provide us with incredible footage.
After seeing the ugly when Corinthians' Angelo suffered a seizure earlier in the week, and then chronicling the bad when a ref ruled out a perfect legal penalty when the ball sneaked through a hole in the net, we now have the good as competition served up an incredible goal after just five seconds of play.
Sao Paulo broke through the Confianca-SE backline straight from the kick-off.
Tiago Alves collected the ball from the centre and he immediately charged through the Confianca side. After gobbling up 20-yards and drawing out both of Confianca's centre-halves, Alves slipped a pass through the Geovane who cracked a superb first time shot into the top corner of the near post.

High School Player Austin Groff Hits Halfcourt Back-to-Basket Buzzerbeater
High School Player Austin Groff Hits Halfcourt Back-to-Basket Backwards Buzzerbeater
Austin Groff, a guard for Twin Valley South (Ohio) High School, made perhaps the best buzzerbeater of the year that didn't really affect the outcome of the game in which it occurred. Still, it's pretty awesome.
With time winding down in the first quarter, Groff throws a pass directly into a defenders hands, deflecting the ball back to midcourt. Groff retrieved the ball, stared aimlessly out of bounds for a second or two, then, after prodding from the bench, heaved a desperation shot over his head.

Hole in the net sees a referee chalk off a penalty
Hole in the net sees a referee chalk off a penalty (Gremio vs Marilia)
A Brazilian referee Antonio Zampieri Ulysses has courted criticism this week when the man in black chalked off a legal penalty after the ball travelled through a hole in the net.
The incident took place at the Sao Paulo youth tournament in the match between Gremio and Marilia. Gremio ran out 6-nil winners with midfielder Emerson netting a brilliant four goals, but Emerson should have had even better statistics to show off had his penalty not been wrongly disallowed.
Facing a spot-kick against the Marilia keeper, Emerson whacked a clinical strike into the top left hand corner. The ball clearly entered the goal inside the post, but his shot kept on travelling once it beat the keeper as it escaped the net through a hole.
Clearly not watching the play closely enough and seeing the ball end up behind the goal, referee Antonio Zampieri Ulysses covered himself in shame by chalking off the penalty.

Japanese runner Natsuki Nerada makes wrong turn in Tokyo marathon
After two days, 10 runners and 216.9 kilometers, all that was left between Natsuki Terada and a victory for his university team in the final stage of the Tokyo-Hakone relay marathon was one city block of pavement.
But then the college freshman took a wrong turn.
Terada and his Kokugakuin University ultra-marathon team were in eighth place at the time of his error. Remarkably, he recovered from the error and still finished ahead of one other runner in the pack, which ensured that the team finished in 10th place and earned the final automatic qualification for next year's race.
It's easy to sit on our computers and laugh at Terada's error (clearly the television truck couldn't go the final block; was he expecting it to cross the finish line?), but after running 23 kilometers in front of thousands of cheering fans on national television, it's easy to understand how the young runner made the mistake.
The Hakone Ekiden is a major sporting event in Japan. First competed in 1920, it pits 20 college teams against one another in a 10-stage, 217 km race.
